Tell Congress to Stop Funding Hamas Terrorists for Good
Sponsored by Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.), the “Stop Support for UNRWA Act of 2024” would halt US funding to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). Multiple members of the UNRWA participated in Hamas’ terrorist attack against Israel last October, which is why it is imperative that our nation stop funding this organization.
Here's the exact text of the bill itself:
“The United States may not make any voluntary or involuntary contributions to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (referred to in this Act as ‘UNRWA’), to any successor or related entity, or to the regular budget of the United Nations for the support of UNRWA or a successor entity.”
According to Israeli intelligence, more than 12 employees of the UNRWA participated in the events of October 7, 2023. Hundreds more have links to terrorist organizations. The State Department has already suspended US funding to the UNRWA, but this bill would ensure that we never finance this or any similar organization again.
Importantly, this bill does not prohibit US supporting humanitarian aids to innocents trapped in the Gaza Strip. It would ensure that corrupt, terrorist-infiltrated organizations like the UNRWA are not receiving funds intended for aid and then using them for further acts of terrorism against our allies.
